About us
HISTORY
Our headquarters in Debrecen uniquely combines the functions of university-level pilot training and laboratory research and small-scale pharmaceutical manufacturing to meet special healthcare needs.
When creating the facility, we won about HUF 3.5 billion in EU support with an innovative concept, as a result of which we created an incomparable institution in Europe – in its complexity.
The new science and service center started operating in one of the areas of research and development, creating new jobs and further strengthening the decisive role of Hungary’s second largest city in the national economy. The investment required the city, the university and industry to work together.
The explosive development of aviation requires more and more highly trained aviation professionals. In response to this challenge, we launched the international pilot training at our center in cooperation with the University of Debrecen, where PHARMAFLIGHT operates as an outsourced department of the university.
Starting in September 2017, our 1.5-year helicopter pilot training and our 3.5-year professional pilot BSc training started, the uniqueness of which lies in the fact that in addition to the ATP(A) exam, we also provide our students with type certification on one of our Airbus or Boeing simulators. The uniqueness of helicopter pilot training is that we have reduced the duration of the training, which makes it more intensive, but with our physiological measurement system we can enable our students to successfully complete the training under pressure.
The PHARMAFLIGHT building complex has 20 rooms, which are also suitable for sleeping analysis. With the sleep monitoring system, we can analyze the quality of sleep, with distractions and bad habits, the elimination of which improves sleep efficiency and, indirectly, work performance and quality. The equipment and design of the rooms are ideal for both study and relaxation.
Our center is proud to be a research partner of ICAO (International Civil Aviation Organization) and, according to our memorandum with them, we carry out scientific and research work on the medical, physiological and mental health of flight crews. The experience gained in this way will be shared in order to improve the regulation of aviation safety through the evaluation of the results.
PHARMAFLIGHT, together with the University of Debrecen, has set itself research goals and training directions which have made the Debrecen scientific workshop one of the most interesting research centers in the whole country. Joint drug research at the Center with the University of Debrecen promotes the development of Hungarian scientific results in the field of understanding the effects of active ingredients on flight crews, and the production capacity will enable pilots to be supplied with special drugs. World-class healthcare equipment and instruments help to better assess the suitability of workers in all sectors of transport and can also help ensure that workers receive adequate health and vocational rehabilitation when needed.
