What kind of certification(s) does PHARMAFLIGHT have?

We hold all the necessary certificates for flight instruction.

PHARMAFLIGHT, as an outsourced campus of the University of Debrecen, is certified as an Approved Training Organisation, and also holds the Flight Simulation Training Device Certificate and the Aeromedical Centre Certificate. This means that we are an official training organisation as well as an aeromedical centre.

What kind of aircrafts are there in the fleet?

Cessna C172, Tecnam P2006T and Tecnam P2008JC type aircrafts are at service in the PHARMAFLIGHT fleet.

How can I become a pilot?

The first thing to decide: what type of pilot would like to become?

First of all, you need to decide what type of pilot you want to be. We can give you the right training to become either a hobby pilot or a professional pilot.

If you want to become a hobby pilot, the easiest and quickest way is to take our PPL(A) basic training course. We can offer a more advanced level of qualification with our Integrated ATP(A) training.

If you want to become a professional pilot, and you wish for a career as a pilot, then the Professional Pilot Bsc course at the University of Debrecen is the right course for you!

Do I need a Visa / Residence Permit?

Yes, unless you do have a citizenship issued by an EU/EEA country.

Is there a scholarship programme?

Yes, there is.

At which age can I start the pilot training?

Above the age of 17, without upper age limitation.

Once you have met the admission requirements, all you have to do is submit your application.

What is the language of the training?

English, full-time.

All training is in English, so cadets learn both theory and practice in English, the official language of aviation. Therefore, one of the most important admission requirements is a good command of English, which must be demonstrated during the admission procedure.

What kind of medical examination do I need before starting the pilot training? Where can I do it?

A Class 1 medical examination is required to start the training.

Before the start of pilot training, EASA regulations require the student to pass a Class 1 medical examination to certify that he/she is physically fit to start pilot training. As PHARMAFLIGHT is also an aero-medical centre, you can easily do this at our location.

What kind of simulators are there at PHARMAFLIGHT?

5 different types of simulators are available at PHARMAFLIGHT.

- A320 FFS LEVEL D szimulátor
- B737-800 szimulátor
- Redbird Cessna C172 / 182 RG FNPT II
- Entrol EN 1000 FNPT II Szimulátor
- Entrol A32 (EASA FNPT II MCC / FAA FTD Level 5 based on A320)

What kind of aeromedical certificate do I need before starting the pilot training?

Class 1 initial medical certificate.

EASA rules require training applicants to present a Class 1 initial medical certificate proving that they are physically fit to be a pilot. For more information on aeromedical certificates, see the EASA regulations:

How long is the aeromedical certificate valid for?

It depends on the class type of the aeromedical certificate.

The validity of the different medical certificates:

below 40 years of age: Class 1 – 1 year; Class 2 – 5 years.
between the ages 40-59: Class 1 – 6 months; Class 2 – 2 years; LAPL certificate – 2 years.
above the age of 60: Class 1 – 6 months; Class 2 – 1 year; LAPL certificate – 2 years.

What types of aeromedical certificates are available?

All of the aeromedical certificate types necessary for pilots and the cabin crew are available at PHARMAFLIGHT.

The types of aeromedical examinations available at PHARMAFLIGHT:

Class 1 (ATPL, CPL) initial examination
Class 1 extension, renewal examination
Class 2 (PPL)/LAPL initial examination
Class 2/LAPL renewal examination
Cabin crew initial examination
Cabin crew renewal examination

How much does an aeromedical examination cost?

It depends on the class of the examination.

While a Class 1 medical examination, for example, consists of several tests and can take more than one day, a Cabin Crew or LAPL medical examination involves different medical processes. Accordingly, the price of the examinations varies depending on the type. The prices of our Aeromedical Center can be found here:

Can I use an already existing aeromedical certificate?

Yes, if the certificate was issued in an EASA member state.

The existing medical certificate, if issued within an EASA Member State, can be used. However, a Class 1 medical certificate, if issued 5 years ago or more, can only be extended by a Class 1 initial examination. If the medical certificate is more than 5 years old, a general renewal medical certificate may be obtained. If you have an EASA Class 2 certificate and you wish to apply for a Class 1 certificate, the already existing aeromedical certificate has to be presented.

What kind of documentation should I bring to the examination?

identification document (ID card, passport, driving license),
address card (if available),
documentation of previous illness, injury, hospitalisaton.

Is there any necessary medical examinations to be taken before the aeromedical examination?

It depends on the type of the aeromedical examination.

Before Class 1 initial: no.
Before Class 1 extension/renewal: laboratory test.
Before Class 2 and LAPL:
- Under 40 years: no.
- Over 40 years: laboratory test.
Before Cabin Crew initial: tympanometry.
Before Cabin Crew extension/renewal: no.

Do I need to present my previous aeromedical certificates?

Yes.

If you have a pilot medical certificate, the aero-medical examination can only start if you present it.
